David,

Even better is to check www.SJMAutotechnik.com in the area of
"Secrets of High Boost" for info on how to diagnose a MAC 11 - 14
equipped turbo cars.

As for the Michelin Man hose (ribbed hose running from the intercooler,
radiator looking thing in front of the engine compartment) to throttle
body,
they often do fail. As Kneal says, the best way to test is to take the
hose
off (can't do this right with it on the car, trust us) and examine the
hose,
pleat by pleat. There are metal rings between each pleat, so it's hard to
see.
Hold the hose up to the light and flex, looking for light in the pleats.
Finally,
as Knealle says, do the accordian test.

In a pinch, what I have found that works is to use old bike inner tubes,
hose clamps and duct tape to wrap the hose. I don't like using too much
duct tape, I'd hate for the adhesive (remember, this is a hot
environment)
to get into my intake tract.

This is one of those parts that you may want to keep a spare around. A
number of sources are availible. Check out www.thepartsconnection.com,
and other sources (unfortunately, last I checked, the parts suppliers
part
of www.audifans.com seems to be down. I'm sure other listers can offer
other
sources that my feeble mind can't recall. If you can't find one fast, I
do have
a spare new one I can sell.

HTH!
