Has anyone mentioned the injector cooling setup? The fan is s'posed to keep the injector lines cool to prevent vapor lock in the lines. Also, the leaky injectors could be causing you trouble. If you pull the injectors and jumper the fuel pump, you can test the spray pattern and test for leaks. You'll probly need new injector seals for that though...

The one other possibility is the fuel accumulator, under the rear seat area.
It has two lines running to one side, and a tiny straight-blade screw on the
other. If the area around the screw is wet, the diaphram is broken, and it
needs to be replaced.
Having said that, it is most often the check valve, and a diaphram can be
bad for a while before it shows vapor lock symptoms.
