If it's only for a second or two then it's perfectly ok.  It's
just the hydraulic valve lifters tapping while the oil pressure is
building up.

If the head gasket is leaky then I would expect white smoke, and
it won't disappear.  You might have a little blow-by.  Do a compression
test on the cylinders to see if's within spec and for consistency.

Before you dig too deep, have you checked the bulb?
