Should I rebuild the Turbo first?

I just pulled the turbo from my 87 parts car to replace the smoking one (like spy hunter smoking) on my 89.
the 87 had about 180k miles on it. There is a little play on the shaft side to side. I want to know if I should look at getting it rebuilt before I put it in the 89. I never ran high boost in the 87, but the 89 is chipped and I do live in Colorado (need to worry about over spinning?).
So should I rebuild it?
Dont want to have to take it off again in 6 months.
What is acceptiable shaft play.
Anyone had any experinces with TurboCity rebuild kits?
