Should I rebuild the Turbo first?

Britt - I replaced the turbo on an 86 5000. The housing was cracked, and you
may have the same problem (oil was going into the intercooler). Whatever you
decide to do, you should know that there is a small amount of play in the
turbo shaft - I was told the shaft "floats" on oil, and that play is normal.

But since you are in Colorado, I thought I'd pass along the beta on these
guys:

Turbo Charger Engineering Corp
17222 S Golden Rd
GOLDEN,  CO 80401 - 2600
(303) 271-3997

They do rebuilds, etc. And got me a new turbo for just under $700. Maybe
that's too much (the list will certainly point that out if that's the case),
but I found these guys totally cool and professional to work with. Might be
worth a stop in Golden if you're near there.
