Agreed that I would now go with a USB model interface, but I think that I 
would wait until the latest USB interface with CAN bus capabilities is 
available.  I understand the CAN bus is becoming the 'standard' in new 
Audis because the large number of controllers in the new cars is 'taxing' 
the 'old' bus.  This should be in the next month or two according to a 
recent post on the VAG-COM list.

The USB interfaces also promise faster data-logging capabilities for 
troubleshooting (tuning?) while the car is running.
