Knock sensor failure?

Not sure for your car, but it was about $35 for my NG with CIS-e III. BTDT. Be sure to use a new bolt and a good torque wrench...

Hmmmm...  Very interesting, Dave.  When tuning my RS2ed urS6 we had to dial 
back the timing advance quite a bit to prevent the KS from doing it 
itself.   It took performance from being absolutely overwhelming to simply, 
"Holy Cow, Batman!"  Hmmmm...  I wonder how much a replacement KS costs.
