speaker placement in type 44 avant?

I have some really good but big Sony speakers that I want to put in my
avant.  Has anyone put speakers in the lower part of the hatch (the part
that doesn't have glass, obviously)?  If so, how did it work out?  It
seems like there would be enough room for the speakers in there, but I
don't want to take it apart until I know for sure.
