Hmmmmmmm.  Let me elaborate as I now see the point of the 12 "point" socket 
(use)....as in Chris' post below. Using the 12 points as tangs to grip the bolt 
head: then yes, 12 points be better.
I was referring to the flat sides of a bolt head where the 6 point would make 
more flush contact with the head sides.....better against "rounding the 
corners" of the bolt head and more surface contact to bolt head, per socket.

Like using your fingers, 12 would be better grip than 6.
