1.8T timing belt

I know this has to be in the archives somewhere, but I couldn't find it after searching. Anyway, my 1999.5 A4 1.8t is getting very close to its 60,000-mile service. I called my mechanic to schedule it, bracing myself for a nasty estimate since I figured it was time to do the timing belt along with everything else. However, I was told that since my car has the improved timing belt tensioner it's safe to go past 60K before doing the timing belt; he suggested it be done at 75,000 miles.

While this mechanic has been very good to me in the past, I'm still a bit nervous about not doing the timing belt now. What thoughts do you have?

Thanks,
Mike
