The aftermarket has tried to address this, at least for Ford SuperDutys and other turbo diesels, with modules that will actually keep the truck running and monitor the EGT's until they drop to safe levels, even after you turn off the key and walk away. I suppose this would be a bit more problematic w a manual tranny, but has anyone ever heard of anyone doing anything like this on an Audi or similar?
I guess that's what the Type 44 afterrun systems were trying to accomplish....too bad they rarely seem to work on any of the Type 44's I've owned.
