Very nice emergency backup plan. So then, I put together a
2-inch 14? 12? 10? gauge wire with spade connectors on each
end.  I pull the relay -- which is where? -- then I use the
jumper to connect which terminals of the relay?

(I guess it's time to by the Bentley for this car. As soon
as I get my first paycheck.)
