'89 100 fuel pump

There SHOULD be a cover over the access hole to the top of the fuel tank.
That cover should be in the center of the trunk just in from the bulkhead
to the rear seat area. Usually a couple of Phillips head screws. Once the
cover is off, you'll see the tabs on the lid Andrew described. I have a
brass punch and hammer I use. It screws off "normal" (as in lefty loosy,
rightie tightie). There's a rubber O-ring sealing the cap to the opening
in the tank and you want to be sure that gets back in place when you put
the cap back on. The pumps with rubberish anchors have a triangular piece
of plastic clamped to them with rubber inserts in each corner that slip
over three mounting posts bolted to the bottom of the tank. I got the
rubber bits off the posts by putting my thumb on top of the post and
pulling with two fingers around the rubber bits. I've had the plastic
triangle become disconnected from the rubber, leaving the rubber on the
mounting post. In that instance, you need to get the rubber bit off the
post and reinsert it into the triangle to install the new pump.
