Name That Hose (identifying leak in 1993 S4)

I'm sure it is either gas or brake fluid. Did you smell it? Gas is
obvious, brake fluid would be obvious if you've smelled it before, but
it doesn't evaporate like gas, so the smell is more subtle.
>From what I've seen, there should only be 2 brake lines running to the
back of the car (and same for gas lines). The gas lines will be a
slightly larger diameter than the brake lines.

One other clue. The brakes shouldn't be under pressure all the time.
Since you say that it happens after you started the car, I'm going to
assume the fuel pump was running and what you saw was gas spraying
under pressure.
That is a very dangerous situation!! (purely from a fire hazzard
standpoint). I mean, leaking brake lines aren't safe, but the spraying
gas can get ugly really fast before you even try to stop the car!

PS. I've seen gas lines repaired with compression fittings and copper
tubing. An Audi mech told me that was perfectly acceptable... I had a
car that was repaired that way and it worked for over 5 years (then, I
sold the car).
