Tune-up and molding strips

Hi all,

Today in bitter cold PA I was driving my 1993 90S and was forced to come
to almost a complete stop on a steep hill. Getting the rest of the way
up was very slow going and I couldn’t “punch it” to make it go faster.
I think I need to do a good tune-up, and was wondering what all you
would suggest replacing. This will be my first tune-up with the Audi
and I wasn’t sure whether it required anything different from a usual
tune-up or not. I know I need a new distributor cap/wires as on
spring/fall days after a heavy rain it starts hard, but I figured I’d go
ahead and do a complete tune-up. I don’t drive it much in the winter at
all, but want to have it in tip-top shape come spring time. Is this a
job I should be able to handle on my own? I’m not a mechanic, and
usually don’t do much more than change the oil, but I’d like to save a
bit if possible.

One other question I had was regarding the molding strips. Last May I
had a crash when my front left tire came off while driving(mechanics
hadn’t tightened the lugnuts enough). It trashed my left front fender
but that was taken car of months ago. However, the auto body shop that
did the work put on the wrong molding strip for that fender. The one
they put on is very thin and the molding that had been on it before was
quite thick(3/4 inch, maybe an inch). They supposedly tried to order
the right piece in but said all they could get was the thin stuff(about
¼ inch). It just looks bad and I’d love to get this fixed. Does anyone
know where I might be able to order the correct piece of molding?

Many thanks, in advance!

Tony
