using flux-core wire (cheap MIG welder) I found it welds easily, but 
splatters a bit due to the wire being a different composition than the 
material - which is only ugly, and can be cleaned with a file.

It lasts approximately forever.

Get a bung at any speed shop, drill hole and weld it in, wherever it's 
convenient?
