Hi Frank, sorry to hear of the loss, hope everyone involved is well! There
were several suggestions made on the list about nudging the ins co to be
more generous with a settlement, and even a few online articles and BTDT's
that I recall seeing here over the years. And I can feel your pain on losing
the car so soon after repairs, but keep in mind these are both *maintenance*
items, i.e.: the car is expected to have four working hubs/brgs on it, and
have street legal tyres. It's not like you can squeak another 30$ out of
Progressive just because you had your oil changed yesterday :)
I've never heard anyone say "schweet, my car got totaled and I haven't put a
nickel into it in years".
Best plan is to argue *replacement value* and demonstrate how well you kept
the car up, and how hard it may be to find a comparable example.
-Cheers
