As for the not charging part, I think there is a blue wire
to the alternator that tells it to alternate. Do a Google
search on Audifans.com for: alternator blue wire. You'll
get stuff like this:

Is there an AC clutch that disengages when the clutch is
pushed in?  Maybe it isn't doing its thing.
