I always recommend replacing all of the primary wiring in any older VW or
Audi car. The wiring wasn't very good to start with (16V GTis had a LOT of
problems, even when new) let alone the corrsion that's certain to have
occured in the wiring (often hidden underneath the sheath). A voltmeter is
always a good idea, but you'll solve a lot of issues by replacing the
primary wiring.
 Dual voltmeters are a waste- spend the time replacing the suspect wiring to
begin with. If you have a suspicion, it's easy enough to test with a VOM at
that time.
