QSW tranny gearing and engine repainting

Hi Louis,
As I recall from a list discussion about 4kq/QSW engine RPM several years ago, Audi/VW deliberately did this to keep the engine in the "power" band , even at highway speeds, so the driver can pass or perform an "emergency" acceleration. Our engines are slightly hp and torque challenged(I have a 4kq).
What I really wish is that Audi changed the first and second gearing. The first gear is useful only for pulling tree stumps out of the ground.
...anyway.
On your engine repaint, which product(s) did you use? POR 15 engine enamel, or another brand/product?

Low tranny gears??
That's the case in myy '87 VW QSW which does 4K RPMs @
80MPH on 5th gear. At first I thought something was
wrong, but found out that's the way it was built.
The upside is that even at that speed, I'm able to
accelerate rather quickly (actually very quickly) to
overtake other vehicles in the highway, but the
downside is that is not very economical.
You should see the look on other passengers' faces
driving late model cars with auto trannys when they
get overtaken by my beat-up wagon.
The exterior is really crappy and sorta of gettho
thanks to hurricane Wilma ('05) but the engine is just
a beauty to look at and listen to, following a top end
engine rebuilt followed by a complete engine high-temp
paint job with new rubber and seals.
-Regards,
-Louis
