buying new B6-stick or Tiptronic?

I'd have to agree with Ed on the resale issue, it's a lot harder to get rid
of
a comparatively "stripped" model of car.
As for the Tip vs. stick, I assume you've driven both, and it doesn't really
matter too much for you in your type of environment. I have found schlepping
around with my Mom's 01.5" Passat GLX Tip that, with a bit of anticipation,
you
can reasonably make the tip do what you want it to do. It's not as
transparent
or immediate as a stick, but servicable. This is with little "stick time"
;-) in the
car, so there is no way the tranny has learned any of my habits. It is a
good
deal easier to select a gear than with the old PRND4321 set-up autoboxes. My
biggest beef is the electronic throttle doesn't allow left foot braking to
load up the
torque converter. Instead if you left foot, the car goes into "limp-home"
mode for about
5 seconds and flashes the Chk Eng light for a moment.
I for one, would prefer the stick, but then again, I tend to keep cars
forever, so I want
it set up for me.
And congrats on being able to get a new car after over 20 yrs. And join the
club, my
'05 Saabaru was my first new since my '85 GTi (RiP) and due to the buyer's
market,
one heck of a better deal (although not a good as your deal!).
