That depends.  On the Type 44 (late 80s, early 90s 100/200), there
is a splice in that cable that lives under the passenger footwell. 
That splice corrodes over time, lessening the voltage going to
the bits that need them. That reduced voltages causes problems.
Some listers have replaced the cable with a long single run of wire,
sometime substituting welders cable (more, finer wires?).
