Wheel bolt woes

Drew,

 

There is nothing wrong with using a coil-insert such as heli-coil.  Often
times the repaired threads are stronger than original.  Red lock-tite
applied when installing is good to make sure the threads won't go through -
let set-up prior to installing lug.

 

An alternative would be to weld the hole shut, then drill and retap, but the
heat may not be the best for the bearing.  If I had this situation, I'd use
the heli-coil.  The only alternative is to install a new hub.  Not cheap or
easy.
