urS4 front end clunk

My first 20v car, a sedan, had a clunk. I took it into a local Audi
shop and they just tightened the tie rod connection on the firewall.
That fixed it.

Every other 20v car I have owned I have replaced the entire tie rod as
opposed to just the outer end. The inner end is just a rubber bushing
and I figure it can't last forever.

I also had a clunk on one of my Audi's after I had replaced everything.
Here, one of the control arm bolts was not tightened entirely but the
mechanic that reinstalled the control arms after the bushings were changed.

All the cars I have dealt with are 20v sedans or Coupe Quattro's but I
believe construction is similar.

Good luck,
Dave Kase
