How may mouse skins would it take to cover a seat?

My 2c for the mechanical parts of VAG seats up to 1996 ish when I lost
interest. Upholstery is another issue.
the seats are similar in many respects from model to model for any given
year/model series range.
obviously you have LH and RH, electric and manual.
the backs are v similar, but are LH / RH with respect to adjusters and
tilt levers. Since they all use the same tilt lock mechanism and hinge
points, this is a bit academic.
the height of the rear legs and extent of tilt on tilt and non tilt
seats respectively is also variable from model to model.
Golf seat bases in polo 2s is the way to go for very short people i.e.
corrects the "can just see his knuckles and the top of his flat cap over
the steering wheel" syndrome that is prevalent in Florida and
Bournemouth (GB) ........ allegedly!
non recaro sports seats 'tend' to be the same as non sports seats, but
with some steel reinforcing/bolster stiffening rods welded on the sides.
these can be transferred with the aid of a grinder and a MIG. (BTDT)
I once replaced a CGT (1.8 with Pierburg 2E2 (OH JOY OF JOYS!!!)) seat
back that had cracked, with one from a polo.
we swapped the upholstery over and cut 'n' shut the bolster stiffeners
and used the original base. 'twas better than new.
with the golf, the seat backs were all fold forward but the 4 doors had
a strap bolted onto the post that the 'hook' locked onto on the folding
ones and no lever/cables. you could unbolt the strap and flick the 2
claws to get the seat back to fold forward if you AHEM found yourself
erm.... needing more room in the back for some reason :-[
Can't see why the Ingolstat stuff would be different, and my 200 looks
similar, but for the fact that it's electric.
