CGT locks work. Fuel pump silent.

I spent last weekend fixing the central locking system in one of my 87.5 coupes. The problem turned-out to be in the wiring leading from the fuse box to the actuator in the door. Some wire and a few connectors successfully bypassed the problem and now the locks work like new. I fixed the bad door handle while I was at it. Now, I can get in from the driver’s side but I can’t get the car to start!
When I tried to start it, I happened to notice that the fuel pump wasn’t doing its pressurization thing like it’s supposed to with the ignition turned to the second position. I though that I might have knocked a connector loose underneath the fuse box when I was wiring the lock bypass. When that didn’t reveal a problem, I suspected a bad relay and I swapped in a known good one. It didn’t help. So, I consulted Huw’s Fusebox Diagram and jumpered pin #48 to #52. The ^@%*!!! pump worked!
To me Huw’s diagram looks kinda like a map of the London subway and wiring isn’t exactly my primary skill so I could have over-looked obvious trouble spots but if the problem isn’t the pump, the wiring to the pump, or the FP relay, what else could it be?
TIA
