I have an 86 300zx. It was in good condition when I bought it about
10 years ago, 120k miles. I paid $2000 for it, needed a heater
core. I drove it for 150k more miles, and it still sits in my yard
needed some work done to it (head gasket blew, and it hasn't started since.)

However the value depends on the options. If it's an automatic, it
not worth much at all. If it's a turbo, it's worth a lot more
(unless it's an automatic.) Leather or an 'SS' (Shiro all white with
white wheels) edition makes it worth more, as do T-Tops.

Really, they aren't much in demand as collectors cars, everyone
prefers the 240/260/280 Z cars, or the 90-96 300ZX's. The 84-89
mainly appeal to ricers and drifters (sad to say, as I liked my car a
lot, didn't rice it out, and got an extreme value for my money.) I'm
guessing I spent less than 2k in maintenance during the years I drove
it as a daily driver.
