In preparation for your swap you should also get yourself some crush
washers.
I've had success using a cordless impact wrench - but of course you have
to be careful to insure that the banjo doesn't spin and destroy the
electrical posts (BTDT).

Subject: Replacing Fuel pump and frozen check valve....
Well, the fuel pump finally quit on my trusty '85 4000Q. I have a good
working spare pump off a parts car and started in on the job only to
find the
check valve frozen to the banjo bolt on both pumps. It looks like I can
get
the bad pump off by destroying the electrical connectors on the pump
body
(unless they are removable .....I doubt it) but getting hold of the
little,
tiny, skinny crammed between the two electrical connectors check valve
nut
looks almost impossible. (another example of superb German
engineering).
Looks like I might have to fabricate (grind down) some sort of wrench
to get
on the nut ....needle nose miniature vice grips maybe......... So last
night I soaked everything with PB Blaster and went to have a beer in the
hope
that there might be a BTDT easier way to accomplish the task, if it can
even be done.
Thanks,
Jim
