p.s.

I am not at all happy with the dealership putting an ignition switch
to diagnose my car

my hubby didn't have any trouble sending juice directly to starter
and bypassing ignition switch to get it started

I used to work on cars when I was in my 30s for a friend when I was
laid off and when I told him that story he just about fell over with
disbelief.

HOWEVER, I am not paying the repair bill at the shop, the fella who
is buying my car is, plus $1,000 for my car.

I do trust the fella in the parts department, he has given me
fantastic deals over the years ... and he has worked on cars a lot
himself. He went out to the shop and looked at the car himself and
his description matches what my friend Bill said as well as what he
would expect with an Audi.

I am not in a position to pay more than a few hundred dollars for the
repairs, so it was a blessing that someone wanted to buy the car and
will pay cash on Monday when I go back.

But I am miffed about the MAF sensor I put in ... that part I have to eat.

I am positive the Audi Technician in Tucson had to know that the
cylinders were starting to go bad. I asked directly several times
what the car needed next. It is too far to ever bother with, but
*if* it was close by I would walk in the shop and talk to his boss.

I wrote months ago asking about the smoke I noticed the *first* time
I drove from Phoenix up to Flagstaff with those steep grades ... 65
mph is *nothing* for an Audi with 160 on the dashboard. I have
*never* had an Audi act like that before, so someone has beat the car
or something .....

another lesson in a long line of them that I just chalk up to Ph.D. in Life.

Happy New Year's to everyone !

  Cheers, Fay
