MAF issues

OK I finally have had a chance to really dig into the Issues with the A6.
Thought there might be a fuel flow issue..   Water in the tank issue.
finally got the car to spit out some useful codes..  MAF.   I kinda wondered
the other day as I was under the hood and bumped it and it killed the
engine..  but it has not been constant..  Two questions for the people out
there.. number one. anyone know a good source for these.. I am trying to
compare price between the rebuilt ones and a new one.. I mean the parts
shops around here are selling the rebuilt ones for 179. Plus the core..
Its my understanding that for the most part the rebuilt one is pretty much
cleaned out.. 

 

Also since no one even has a rebuilt one in stock..  I have to order.. has
anyone tried to clean their own   even for a sort term fix?  I mean until I
get mine from wherever it is coming from..
