As said earlier and echoed by our colleagues:
 
Get the tools & do it right.  High compression engine, no room for error on your part.
 
I also second replacing water pump, tensioner pulley and various other rollers.
 
Perhaps that is why my 1993 V6 100 still runs with 180K on the clock...
