MAF issues

In practice, there are no replacement parts available. The key thing is that
none of the OEM manufacturers of AFMs offer rebuilts. If you open one up,
they're constructed with pretty exotic methods including chip packages
bonded directly to circuit boards, thick film printed on resistors and the
like. Plus they're usually conformal coated or potted, which makes any
repair a complete pain in the butt. Pretty much the only servicing that
could be done would be to replace the actual hot wire, assuming it's
actually a wire, and not a printed film resistor.

My experience with rebuilt air mass meters (both the hot wire type and the
older mechanical type) is that they're not nearly as good as a brand new
unit, and are sometimes junk right out of the box. I'd strongly recommend
going with new, or if that's too spendy, a good used unit.
