B3 dash swap in to a B2? Anyone have any insight?

I have no idea why you'd want to do that. What does the B3 dash have
that makes it better? Nothing. The B2 speedo is mechanical, so you'll
have to figure that out. The B3 glovebox is tiny.
The late B2 dash is bolt in, all you have to do is rewire the cluster
switches. Your old inst. cluster is plug and play.
HVAC air distribution is plug and play.
The B3 dash is probably 6" deeper due to the later cars' more raked
windshield. I don't see any sensible way of cramming it into a B2, and
have had dashboards in and out of both platforms.
Is the issue availability, perhaps? (I have, I think, an entire "swap
project" in a box in the attic, and have thrown away the last couple
sets I had).
