MFTS frequent failure

Let's do some clarifying first.
What is the failure mode?
What problem is it causing?
Are you certain it is the MFTS? That has little to do with A/C (it disables A/C if the engine overheats, nothing more) and you seem to be talking about an A/C problem. It's main function is to run the temp gauge on the dashboard. If you are having it constantly disable A/C you could just disconnect that one wire from it, but be sure the engine is cooling properly first.
