Dave,
I had a similar problem with my S6 a couple months ago. It's the
ignition switch. When you start the car, and let go of the key, it is
not returning to the ON position. It is stopping just short. All you
should have to do is, after the car starts, turn the key to the left
just a little bit. My mechanic says this is a common repair on Audis.
I'm living with it until I have the time and cash for a new ignition
switch. I have gotten into the habit of looking at the temperature
controls and if the display is missing, then I turn the key a little to
the left until they appear. One good thing is the brake lights still
work even if you don't turn the key back to the ON position.

95 S6 with a sticking ignition switch (sometimes)
My 95 S6 needs a bomb and a rack. Anyone have a good source? It also
has
an electrical problem: The power windows, headlights, blinkers &
flashers
stopped working, but started working again. IT has happened on 3
seperate
occasions. Has anyone had this happen to them and if so where was the
broken wire(s).
Anyone have a good mechanic in the central Mass (Worcester to Fitchburg
or
surrounding towns) area?
Thanks in advance!
