[s-cars] chippies

<SNIP>
I have a local CT friend who got his '94 from Anderson with the Lehman
chipset, I've been MEANING to drive down 91S here and see him. Maybe lunch
today, for a back to back 'seat-o-da-pants' comparison, and I'll post my
'thoughts'.
<SNIP>

OK, I'm back. Met up with Angelo (non-frequent lister) and his green (!!of
course!!) '94 and did back to back drives. He claims though that his Lehman
set is not the 'hot' version, and didn't know more about it. So the
comparison ends up being sort of moot, as I don't have all the facts.

Here's what I DO know: we're both running Stebro cat-back, K&N, Bosch Sport
BPV, but him with OE 16x8's and my '95 with 17x8 Avus
(weight=slight-but-noticable parasitic loss), and him with Lehman (?) chip
and me with MTM 3 bar. Impressions? Well, there was definitely a
noticeable difference, not dramatic, but noticeable. However, it was no
where near as noticeable as it was coming out of a TAP 2.5 PT car and
getting into mine, that much is sure. So again, sorry, sort of
inconclusive.

An interesting note though, maybe some here can share their thoughts on this
one (Scott J, other turbohounds, etc.?)? My car is DEFINITELY more audible
than his. Meaning, my turbo produces a MUCH more defined high-pitched
'whine' to it, which I love (but hope it doesn't indicate impending doom?).
Also, during upshifts / hard throttle lift, my BPV (brand new, 3 months old)
makes MUCH more sound than his, and they're the same valve.

Again, I like that, both noises sound wondrous and are addictive to 'make'.
But does anyone here have any thoughts as to what causes this sound
differential? I'm 'assuming' it stems from my chip being a 'hotter' version
(?). Not like this is an earth shattering issue or anything, but I can't
help but be curious.

TTFN, TIA.

Paul
