I think there's a couple of different kind of retention systems on this
caliper. On mine, it's sort of an H-shaped piece of flat metal, held in
place by a large pin. On my buddy's 996, which I looked at only briefly, it
looked like an actual spring held the pads in.
I don't really see how the pad retention spring could rub on the rotor.
Oh, and by the way, since I put the outer dampers in, the squeal is *worse*.
Think I'll pull them all out and try again.
