[s-cars] more boost issues...

I want to thank everyone who have responded to my recent questions in regards to vacuum/boost. Sounds like 17" of vacuum at idle is ok and 10lbs of boost is not. Also sounds like the close loop nature of the 02 system is what I'm seeing in the air/fuel gauge and is also ok, but it sounds like I'm seeing quite a bit more hunting than most so I'll probably replace the 02 sensor anyway. So, more questions..... 8-)

Since the cost difference is so great between the official Audi 02 sensor and a generic 3 wire Bosh, I'm gonna hack in the generic sensor. Has anyone bought one recently and where can I find the best price ?

Back to boost. I was sort of amazed that when I installed the gauges that the hard line that brings boost to the ecu is basically clamped to a rubber line just after the moisture trap. The kit I bought had a "t" to pick off for the gauge. Both sides of the stock hard line use 1/4" but the hard line for the gauge is 1/8". Ok, so the "t" has the two 1/4 and one 1/8" fittings. Do people running higher boost with gauges actually just use hose clamps ? and course the 1/8" fitting has to be finagled since I've never seen a clamp that small. The kit supplies hard connectors and ferrules and even suggest teflon tape at the gauge itself but nothing for the tap. I've only seen one other similar gauge setup on a car running high boost and it was all hose clamps. If THAT car was loosing anything through the tap point for the gauges, you could have fooled me. That car was scary !

As soon as I get some time, I'll put up the pictures I took of my install...

as usual, you guys are great !
Thanks !
