[s-cars] Remotes for S6

A brief search of US and European Family Albums indicates your 96 Cabby uses
a different remote than my 95.5 S6. My S6 uses p/n 8D0 959 753A, your Cabby
uses p/n 8L0 959 753. The cabby part number shows up in both the US and Euro
Family Albums, so you should be OK looking for one in Chermany.

Fellow S-ers
I just picked up a 96 Cabriolet and wouldn't you know it, previous
owner lost the remotes. The 96 Cabriolet uses the same remote as the S6.
The two button one.
I have a hard time forking out $120 for a single remote. The old brain
starts to turn and I come up with a plan:
I happen to be going to Germany in a month and think to myself, I will check
prices there and maybe I luck out and they are cheaper in the Fatherland. (I
am probably kidding myself) Then reality kicks in. Audi probably used a
different remote system in Europe than they did here in the states as the
remotes here have the FCC BS all over them.
So is my theory flawed? Can I pick up a remote in Germany and have it work
in the States?
Anyone's brain work similar to mine? LOL
