[s-cars] Those @##%^ Samco hoses!

Darin,
Did you measure the new hose next to the old OEM hose? Just to check length?
It might be prudent.
The reason I ask is that these hoses are all hand made, and well... shit
happens, maybe they cut your too short. I did request extra length on the
revamped MM hose is now 9.25 inch long and stronger (up to 12 bar), so it's
thicker and the resulting thickness might be an issue for the ECS clamps I
gather.
I know that both Don Warren and myself had IC hoses with a small lift in the
tape next to the spout which makes our hoses look like they didn't seal
correctly, but Samco assured us that the hose isn't faulty. Its caused by a
crease in the binding tape which can happen around spouts.
Anyway, don't do what Rod said about cutting and adding a pipe, that's is
just plain unnaceptable to me... if everyone else can theirs on and there's
few that don't fit then it's a production fault and I'll have to take it up
with them.
Cheers, /James.

Subject: [s-cars] Those @##%^ Samco hoses!
Hey gang,
My Samco hoses arrived on Friday afternoon (thanks James & Ann!) so
I
started working on the installation. I figured I'd go after the IC
to
throttle body hose first since it was easy to get at. I got the old
one
out of there easy enough after removing the back cover of the
headlight
to get at the clamp.
Knowing the the connection at the IC is more difficult than those at
the
t-body and ISV, I figured I'd start there with the new Samco hose.
Hmmm... it appears that Samco molded these suckers the same size as
the
part they are supposed to fit over. Needless to say, it is a tight
fit.
After some fussing the hose finally went on and I tightened it
down in
order to start on the other end. Interestingly, the hose to the
t-body
didn't seem long enough to reach. I pushed and twisted that sucka
on
with enough force to flip a Greyhound bus but I am still coming up
short. WTH?! OK, plan B. I take off the lower clamp and start by
attaching the upper connections first. Simple enough. Now I just
need
to get the lower part attached at the IC. Hmmm... still about a
3/4"
too short. Color me puzzled. Has anyone else had this issue or is
my
car just an out of spec mutant? Perhaps I'm the mutant... well, yes
that IS a given. ;-)
I can just imagine how much fun the hose from the turbo to X-over
pipe
is gonna be. Damn! All things considered, I'd much rather perform
a
turbo & manifold swap than a set of these damn hoses. Seriously!
Thanks again James. ;-) LOL
