I'd go synthetic and have no worries. I'm convinced that the myth of
switching back and forth from dino oil to synthetic is just that -- a
myth, promulgated by the folks who sell "oil flush" products -- see
recent post on the subject. Which oil -- Mobil 1 is fine. I use Redline.
Others swear by Amsoil. Redline is brewed close by and supports racing
-- so I'm happy. I'm also pretty much convinced that you can't really go
wrong with any of the synthetics. I've never had an oil related disaster
and I've driven the wheels off a number of vehicles over the years. Now,
wheel related disasters are a different story. :-)
I'd recommend picking whatever synthetic brand that your local mechanic,
Audi dealer, KMart, Pep Boys or 7-11 has on the shelf and rest easy at
night.
