Hap:

Don't get me wrong here, I have no intentions of doing that bloody mod in my
car either. The THOUGHT was prompted by Bob Frizzell's post where his wife
did start her up in gear and jumped the curb. The POST was to prompt
thoughts in others' that might consider this as a desirable "feature".

It has been a long time since I pulled that kind of stunt, but s#*t does
happen, and all the more if others have access to your keys.

Wait a minute!!!! These problems with the front bumper were not due to the
car being started while in gear and the clutch not depressed. They happened
as someone backed away from a seen or unseen curb or other restriction. I
too have a wife with an automatic Audi and I have no problem remembering
which car I'm in. I also fly 3 variations of the 767 and 3 of the 757 and I
don't have a problem figuring those out either. This reminds me of the
Naderstate of mind and the infamous Audi unintended acceleration. Sheeesh.
You are free to modify your car as you wish but I won't be adding it to
mine.
