Mark-
I really don't think the turbo or software has much to do with it unless
your software runs so much fuel enrichment even at part throttle that
you're
far into the rich side of the stoichiometric scale.
The biggest difference I've found is in tires and wheels. My car came
with
15" wheels and all-season tires, which are great for fuel economy and
little
else. I can't recall exactly my mileage with that setup, but highway
mileage
was similar to my 5ktq, so around 25-26mpg. When I went to S4tt wheels
and
225/45R17 RE040 tires, mileage dropped to about 24mpg highway. Now, with
my 255/40R17 HTR-ZII, mileage is around 22-23mpg- it's all in the
rolling
resistance and high inertia of the unsprung weight of the wheel/tire
combo.
I get better mileage with my Nokian NRW-H 225/45R17, but they're rather
squirmy (quiet though).
