The S6A was WAY overpriced ($60K+) and the NA market panned it accordingly.
There are other choices out there for less.  The new Volvo V 70 R will drive
the final nail in the coffin if it truly sells for under $40K.  The RS6 on
the other hand, is a purported to be a beast.  I'm sure all will sell fast -
probably all spoken for already.  However, I know two local customers who
had deposits and were ready to take delivery ASAP but were forced to walk
because the local dealer refused to buy the SST kit from Audi for a two car
allotment.
