[s-cars] coil problem?

Dave,
If an outside lamination of the silicon-iron "core"
has peeled away a little, I would not worry about it.
These laminations are intentionally insulated from
eachother by an oxide or other coating to minimize
eddy current losses. The desired "magnetic circuit"
in the core is still closed if you peel the outside
laminations apart.
It would be another story if the core was coming
apart near the inside coil windings, because this
could degrade the integrity of the wires and insulation.

Subject: [s-cars] coil problem?
I checked my plugs the other day and noticed first layer of metal on the #3
coil has started to bend away. Maybe someone dropped it. I bent it back.
Anyone had this happen? Do I need to replace it ? BTW, the plug electrodes
were very black. The car still runs fine.
