[s-cars] Is there any way to put some tension in a tired serpentine belt tensioner?

I was wonderig if there is any way to put some tension in the serpentine be=
lt tensioner before I spend all that money on a new one. Are there any of y=
ou that have tried doing anything like that? I've taken it off and thought =
of taking it apart but it's pretty much made so that you won't be able to d=
o that.
