Folks,
I think it's the passenger side mounting that cracks over time on
'92-'96 cars. Only in the '97 m/y the mounting has been revised. However
it is definetely not a separate bracket, but is rather a piece of angle
iron, welded to the inner fender at the factory and painted along with
the body shell. I have just looked at it one more time in my garage.
Several years ago at a swap-meet over here at George Baxter's he and I
compared a '95 car with my '97 side by side, with both engines running
and steering wheels turned side to side by assistants. We could
definetely see the slight play in the right inner fender in the '95 car
nad hte rock solid motionless fender in the '97 car.
