Yes, the output to the rear amp is low power, gain control on the aftermark=
et amp should make everything work. I believe the output to be 2-3V, so no=
thing out of the ordinary.
I believe the stock wiring has frequency blockers to keep the frequency ran=
ge in tolerance with the stock speakers, they should be easy to locate in t=
he event you are going to install 2-way or 3-way speakers.
I have two 8-inch round Kicker Solobarics mounted to the hat tray between t=
he midranges I have mounted in the stock rear speaker location. I fabricat=
ed enclosures (fiberglass to keep the weight down) and built a screen to co=
ver the entire hat tray to hide all of the speakers...stealthy. I toyed w=
ith the idea of removing the back seatback, mounting the subs to the rear "=
firewall" and then re-install the seatback ... low freq waves will go throu=
gh most any piece of the cars interior. This project was changed to the ha=
t tray when the baby came ... direct bass interferes with their sleep patte=
rns... but gives a wonderful back message when playing Sir Mix-a lot ...
The ski sack was not an option ... Colorado Springs, Tahoe, and now Salt La=
ke City ... the damn thing would block my skis... It has been done, but an=
appropriate sub in a matched enclosure could sit against the rear of the t=
runk, speaker aimed up, and it would sound like it was in the ski sack. Th=
e best install (acoustic) using a ski sack was two subs at 90 degrees \/, c=
ones aimed at the sack opening and using the skisack opening to vent the en=
closure ports ... also added to the visual appeal when the trunk was open .=
.=2E
.=2E.and anything sub over 10" is overkill ... Kicker Solobaric Squares are=
the most efficient for the size ... unless you are an 18 year old ricer.

Subject: Bose system
Todd:
funny how my latest project always shows up on the
list...
so I gather the head unit will send a line level
output to the Blose amps (I expect it did and thought
I've read this before). I'd really like to upgrade my
stuff but keep the head unit in place, just for a
couple reasons:
1. looks stock
2. can keep the changer
3. I hate the new displays on head units -- flashy and
flat out ugly
So I'm just planning a new system and would like to
confirm if I can get a line-level output from the
stock head. Think I might throw the sub in the ski
sack opening. Where's yours?
