$790 for CPS is lunacy.

The CPS never fails. Its wiring does. Always seems to break the strands
inside the insulation, hence the intermittent behaviour in the
beginning, after which it dies completely.

In all but one case I was able to fix the broken wires by just
resoldering them and heat-shrink insulating the solder joint.

In Stefan's car the wire broke right by the CPS case at which point we
decided that a $135 investment in a new CPS would be justified.
