[s-cars] Heat/Cooling Malfunction

When my heater exhibited the same problem it turned out to be a connection
rod between the motor and the fresh air flap.

VAG-COM turned up the known codes for non-euro cars (there are 2 codes,
always on for my 93 S4, see manual or me again). Anyway, no other fault
codes that I could work with. No information from the A/C control head's
diagnostic mode indicated anything either. Apparently no position sensor
(refer to the 2 always on codes) on the flap, hence no diagnostic of motor
position vs flap position.

You will have to take out the windshield wipers, easy. In my case it was a
connection rod on the drivers side, but there is more linkage on the
passenger side too... you will see it when you get there.

I just ordered the part yesterday. Wait a couple days and I will be able to
give you the part number. I also have a FAX page of from the parts fiche if
you need that.
